Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership

Our overall mission is to increase business, investment and employment in our region. We’re succeeding – in terms of both new and existing business. Through September, 2008, the Partnership successfully landed 190 economic development projects that created 12,893 jobs and more than $2.51 billion in capital investment in Greater Omaha.

This is due in a large part to establishing areas of strategic focus and devoting the necessary resources to achieve them. Our economic development strategy includes seven goals:

  • Increase awareness of and preference for Greater Omaha as a top business and career destination.

  • Recruit national and international companies that complement Greater Omaha's existing assets.

  • Strengthen business retention and expansion efforts via an aggressive business call program and focused retention and expansion programs.

  • Support and promote activities which increase growth of minority businesses in the Greater Omaha area.

  • Provide input into Public Policy programs for creating a statewide "next generation" economic development strategy.

  • Enhance overall economic development by building interlocking partnerships with all economic development organizations serving the Greater Omaha metro area.

  • Provide strategic economic and demographic information.

Target Advisory Groups
What’s more, we continue to build on our areas of strength through Target Advisory Groups. Comprised of volunteers from the Greater Omaha business community, as well as Partnership staff, these groups are keenly focused on attracting, retaining and growing business in such areas as:
